FAQs
1. PRICE - The first question you'll want answered is "what
is the total cost?" Obtain quotes from several companies and
be prepared to provide the following information to ensure an accurate
quote:
2. INSURANCE
- Your vehicle(s) should be insured against damage and theft by
your auto transporter. Ask for a copy of the insurance coverage.
Keep in mind that many auto transporters may discourage or prohibit
you from leaving personal articles in your vehicle. Any personal
articles left in the car are not insured.
3. PICK-UP
AND DELIVERY - Ask for estimated pick-up and delivery times. You
should be able to get a 3-day window for pick-up. Once pick-up
is made, a fairly precise delivery date should be provided to
you. If you need an exact date for pick-up, most transporters
can pick-up your car and hold it at a terminal for an additional
charge.
4. REFERENCES
- While individuals are generally reluctant to act as references
because of the "nuisance factor," corporate clients
are usually willing to do so. Also, many auto transporters are
referred by van line companies. Ask for several references, if
possible.
5. ORGANIZATIONS
- Be sure to check with your local Chamber of Commerce and the
Department of Transportation.
